I am Ordinary.

Manyata was going to have the best day of her life. She couldn’t imagine that she wasn’t dreaming. She was finally presented with a strange moment she always longed for. She only wished to see the world that she had imagined her whole life. She was given permission to visit the city.

Sitting beside her window she thought, “I must have done something very extraordinary good. Hence I was granted this opportunity. I can’t wait to go and explore the whole city. ” With big eyes that were shining with hope and dreams, she looked at a shady mirror and applied her Kajal. She couldn’t stop but smile in the mirror.

Manyata was a smart girl. She told everyone that she was 10 years old. While none around her ever believed that she was 10 years old, Only Leela didi believed that she was actually 10 years old. Manyata lived with Leela Didi at an old hut. She wasn’t blessed to have lived with her parents. Her parents parted ways with her a few years ago. Manyata’s dad was a very ordinary middle-class man who used to work very hard every day. While her mother had a different ideology than her father, She dreamed of being rich and famous. Both sets of parents argued a lot when Manyata was little.

One day when Manyata was getting ready for school, she heard her father scream at her mother. A huge fight broke out between them and her father threw a pot on her mother. In an attempt to save herself from the attack of her husband, Manyata’s mother saved herself up. But unfortunately, the heavy clay pot hit the little girl.

Manyata remembers being taken to a local hospital, but when she opened her eyes, she found herself in a small hut with Leela Didi besides her. She asked a thousand questions to Leela Didi as she was confused, panicked, and scared. But the only answer she got from Leela Didi was,” You were found outside my house lying helplessly, I brought you in”.

Leela Didi whose name was Leela Devi Sharma was a very caring woman. She took care of Manyata as her own child. She never let Manyata suffer and always had everything placed before she even asked for it. But the others didn’t like Leela and Manyata much. While the little Manyata didn’t know why the other’s didn’t like her as much as Leela Didi. She never bothered to ask question regarding it as much as she did with other things.

Manyata was a clever child who never got tired asking questions. Her mind often glazed on things she saw for the first time. The big black eyes were a constant seeker for thousands of answers her mind pondered upon. People around her didn’t know what to answer the little Manyata’s dilemmas.

She was a dreamer with the weirdest desires and passion to follow in her life. As she sat beside her small windows made up of mud she saw a butterfly flying towards her. She felt that this butterfly had came to wish her luck for the new journey she was embarking upon.
